FUCHS to produce CASSIDA food grade lubricant in South Africa

FUCHS Lubricants South Africa a subsidiary of FUCHS PETROLUB SE has announced the local production of the CASSIDA range of food-grade lubricants. This is the first production of CASSIDA in Africa. CASSIDA range of lubricants that come in oils and greases covering application fields in the food and beverage industries and associated areas.

Commenting on the news about the local production of CASSIDA, Giles Cutter, Lubritech Divisional Manager, FUCHS Lubricants South Africa, talked of the important role the acquisition of LUBRITENE and LUBRASA business (mining and food-grade lubricants respectively) in 2014 has facilitated the start of the speciality lubricants division and therefore making it possible to produce CASSIDA in South Africa.

“The acquired businesses, mainly lubricants for the mining and food industry brought initial sales growth and now offers numerous prospects for further expansion in South Africa and the entire Southern African region with the local production of CASSIDA, making FUCHS the dominant market player with all the necessary supporting products. The benefits of local CASSIDA production include the speed of supply, local R&D, harmonization with associated FUCHS brands and lower costs due to SADC not applying duties on locally produced products,” he said.

The CASSIDA range is NSF H1 registered, Halal and Kosher certified and FUCHS is the only production site in Africa with ISO 21469 accreditation according to Mr Cutter.

CASSIDA will be potentially exported, but FUCHS said it will initially focus on the Southern Africa market.
