Valvoline launches new synthetic motor oil

Valvoline Inc. (NYSE: VVV) has announced the launch of Valvoline™ Full Synthetic Extended Protection. The new product had been designed to provide additional detergency, thermal stability and turbocharger protection. It also protects against Low Speed, Pre-Ignition (LSPI), an issue common in gasoline direct injection engines.

In its statement, Valvoline said: “Today’s engine designs are driven by the desire for both greater fuel efficiency and horsepower, leading to an increased use of turbocharged gasoline direct injected engines that boost power while conserving fuel. Engines are also smaller, run hotter and demand more from engine oils than ever before. As such, thermal stability, cleanliness and wear protection are critical to maximizing engine performance and life. Extended Protection was designed to provide this and more. Its Dual Defense Additive Technology combines innovative boosters with a fortified detergent system to withstand extreme heat and maximize engine cleanliness.”

Commenting on the launch of this product, Heidi Matheys, Valvoline chief marketing officer said, “A vehicle is a big investment. Extended Protection’s premium formulation helps extend the life of the engine so that people can enjoy their vehicle for years to come.”

This was followed by another launch of Valvoline High Mileage 150k designed to meet the unique needs of engines with mileage over 150,000. The product reduces oil consumption in older, high mileage engines, gives wear protection increasing both engine performance and power.

“Owners take great pride and passion in maintaining their trusted vehicles, and our new Valvoline High Mileage 150k provides a greater level of protection for older engines,” said Michael Warholic, Valvoline technology manager. “We know taking care of an older vehicle can be challenging, and that’s why we’ve formulated this product to help owners keep their engines running better and their vehicles on the road longer.”

“Valvoline has led the innovation for higher mileage vehicles for decades, and High Mileage 150k delivers a state-of-the-art solution that addresses a growing need in the market,” said Greg Barntsen, Valvoline vice president and general manager. “In nearly every year since 2002, the average vehicle age in the U.S. has increased, and we expect the pandemic and economic uncertainty to continue that trend.”
