Petro Canada launches an environmentally friendly hydraulic fluid

Petro Canada announces the launch of ENVIRON Hydraulic Fluid S. This ashless, environmentally acceptable lubricant complies with the 2013 United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) Vessel General Permit (VGP) and the Swedish Standard SS 155434, as listed by Research Institutes of Sweden (RISE), formerly SP Technical Research Institute of Sweden. Its biodegradable, minimally toxic, and non-bioaccumulative chemistry makes it particularly suited for use in hydraulic systems operating in environmentally sensitive areas.

ENVIRON Hydraulic Fluid S is designed for year-round use in both mobile and stationary hydraulic systems, including those operating in low and high temperature extremes. The ENVIRON Hydraulic Fluid S 32 and 46 are compliant with the following standards and specifications:

  • 2013 US EPA Vessel General Permit (VGP): A regulation that mandates the use of Environmentally Acceptable Lubricants (EALs) in all vessels operating in U.S. waters.
  • Swedish Standard SS 155434, RISE SP listed: A Swedish environmental standard specifying criteria for hydraulic fluids used in sensitive environments.
  • Danfoss Vickers (formerly Eaton Vickers) E-FDGN-TB002-E, successfully rated: An OEM (original equipment manufacturer) approval standard for hydraulic fluid performance.
  • DIN 51524 Part 3 HVLP: A German industry standard from Deutsches Institut für Normung (DIN) for premium anti-wear hydraulic fluids with improved viscosity-temperature behavior and shear stability.
  • ISO 11158 HV: An international standard defining specifications for high-performance hydraulic fluids (HV) with high viscosity index (VI).
  • ISO 15380 HEPR: A standard covering environmentally acceptable hydraulic fluids.

These fluids are suitable for use in equipment manufactured by Bosch Rexroth, Parker Denison, Danfoss, Oilgear, Hydreco, Dynex and others.
