Petro-Canada launches a biodegradable hydraulic fluid

Petro-Canada Lubricants has launched ENVIRON MV R hydraulic fluid that is environmentally-friendly due to its biodegradability.

ENVIRON MV R has been formulated using ultra-pure hydro-treated base oils and an ashless additive which are key in meeting the OECD 301B requirements for ready biodegradability.

According to Tony Weatherill, president, Petro-Canada Lubricants Inc. ENVIRON MV R is key for operators who are looking for maximum production while being environmentally sensitive. “By using ENVIRON MV R, operators do not need to sacrifice performance to meet environmental standards, and it can enable extended drain intervals, minimize maintenance and maximize savings. To have developed an innovative and environmentally friendly solution, the first of its kind, with the performance benefits of a premium mineral oil-based product is testament to our research and development team.”

ENVIRON MV R provides hydrolytic stability, it has a long service life, has better seal compatibility and can perform over a wide temperature range and retaining fluidity over prolonged low-temperature exposure. According to Petro-Canada, lack of zinc and other metal-based additives makes ENVIRON MV R safer for the environment by minimizing the risk of damaging plants, water resources and aquatic life.
