Liqui Moly launches an engine oil designed for Mercedes-Benz hybrid vehicles

Liqui Moly has launched a new engine oil: LIQUI?MOLY?Top Tec 4120?0W-40, specifically designed for the requirements of Mercedes-Benz hybrid vehicles. Top Tec 4120 0W-40 has MB 229.52 approval from Mercedes-Benz. This standard requires high fuel savings as well as high wear and corrosion protection from engine oils, requirements that the new oil from LIQUI MOLY meets.

“TopTec 4120 0W-40 was primarily designed for the Mercedes-Benz M 254 Plug-in Hybrid engine, which requires this oil,” said Oliver Kuhn, Deputy Head of the Oil Laboratory at LIQUI MOLY.  “The combustion engine of hybrid vehicles often runs when cold, so the oil does not reach high temperatures. This can lead to problems due to moisture ingress through condensation. Accordingly, the oil offers optimu flow characteristics at an oil temperature of around 50 to 70 degrees Celsius and counteracts the problems caused by water and fuel ingress,” added Kuhn.

Top Tec 4120 0W-40 has MB 229.52 approval from Mercedes-Benz. This standard requires high fuel savings and high wear and corrosion protection from engine oils, which the new oil from LIQUI MOLY meets. The new engine oil is suitable for engines with a start/stop system, as it offers reliable protection and optimal lubrication, even with frequent engine starts and stops.

Even though Top Tec 4120 0W-40 engine oil is designed for Mercedes-Benz engines; it is also suitable for many Asian hybrid vehicles that require an oil with ACEA C3 or API SP approval.
