Shortage of quality lubricants seen as a major cause of oil adulteration in Nigeria

Shortage of quality lubricants has been identified as a major reason for the emergence of adulterated products at Ikoku Spare Parts Market, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, but the management of 11 PLC, formerly known as Mobil Nigeria, has promised to curb this by flooding the market with genuine lubricants.

This was further affirmed by 11 PLC, Lubricants sales and marketing manager, Steve Ezendiokwere, during a ceremony organised by the company to reward winners of the on-going Mobil Super Peel and Win Promo in Port Harcourt.

Speaking to Vanguard newspaper-Nigeria, Ezendiokwere said, “Before now, Ikoku Automobile Spare Parts market is a hub of those involved in the adulteration of the lubricants. We are not saying everybody is involved but unavailability of products in the past paved way for adulteration of lubricants.” Additionally, he asserted that with 11 PLC, the era of unavailability of product is gone as they have taken steps to ensure steady availability of products. “Mobil lubricants will always be available for purchase, forthwith,” pledged Ezendiokwere.

“We are aligning with changing trend in the country and the promo is our way of saying thank you to loyal customers,” reiterated General Manager Lubes 11PLC, Umesh Malik regarding the promo that was first of its kind for Mobil in Nigeria.

Besides, Malik thanked the leadership of National Automobile Technicians Association for robust relationship with the company over the years, expressing hope that a member of the association will win the Grand Prize.

The promo, as emphasized by 11 PLC was targeted at rewarding loyal customers for their patronage over the past years especially for the 4L packs of their Mobil Super 1000 X1 oil which is blended locally in their Apapa Plant.
